Visting New Zealand from Australia

Let’s face it, from much of the world – particularly North American and Europe – Australia and New Zealand are pretty far away. Between the high cost of traveling to this area of the world and the significant jetlag, it’s no small undertaking to plan a trip here. It makes sense then, that many travelers want to see and do as much as possible to maximize their trip. That’s why a lot of people try to combine a visit to New Zealand with Australia.

The good news is that getting from Sydney to Auckland is easy. The flight takes just three hours (which seems like the blink of an eye compared to the long flight Down Under) and there are about a dozen flights per day to choose from. Virgin Australia, Emirates, Aerolineas Argentinas, Air Pacific, LAN, Air New Zealand, Qantas and United all offer flights, as well as some cheaper regional airlines like Jetstar.

Once there, what to do and how long to stay will really be dictated by your interests. Are you looking for adventures like skiing in New Zealand, zorb-ing or bungee jumping? Or would you rather relax and maybe visit some local wineries? Whether you prefer to stay in a big city or explore the countryside, go budget or luxe, relax or get your adrenaline pumping, there’s a side of New Zealand that will fit the bill.
